With Outback Steakhouse (of Dunwoody, Georgia) as the title sponsor (for the second consecutive year) and several supporting sponsors, including: Ektelon, Einstein Bros, Warsteiner Brewery, Taco Mac, Jason’s Deli, POWERade, Arby’s, Wilson, and W Hotels; “The Resort” (i.e. the Concourse Athletic Club of Atlanta, Georgia) is putting on what will surely be the very best racquetball event that Atlanta has seen or will see in many years. Last year’s event was unbelievably fantastic; and therefore, you definitely don't want to miss this one!
Registered participants are invited to attend a Saturday evening "Shoes for the Homeless" charity STEAK and BREW dinner (sponsored by Outback Steakhouse of Dunwoody). The athletes will receive FREE entry to this dinner by donating one pair of gently used indoor court shoes (more are gladly accepted) to benefit a charity for the homeless. Most tournament players have indoor court shoes that are no longer useful due to worn padding. However, many of the homeless desperately need shoes. New shoes are also appreciated … just stop by any discount store (such as Costco) to pick up a pair. Please do not bring dirty or very worn shoes. So, that zero matches are scheduled during the Outback Dinner; we MIGHT begin play as early as 2:00 pm on Friday (i.e. equal inconvenience in exchange for equal access to the steak dinner).
Dinner will be held inside the air conditioned restaurant at the Concourse Athletic Club (after the Men’s Open Semi-finals) on Saturday, September 8th - approximately 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. (NON-players and/or players that choose NOT to donate their shoes can make a $25.00 donation to the charity as admission to dinner). The guest fees from the Outback Dinner will be donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank (for the homeless); and, the shoes will be donated to an agency of the Atlanta Community Food Bank that runs the Central Night Shelter Medical and Foot Clinic (i.e. Central Presbyterian Church).
